Featured Event:

Oop's, it's that time of year again to meet us all in Russell Springs on June 2nd and 3rd for the 35th annual Butterfield Trail Ride. The "Trail ride" is an annual event sponsored by the Butterfield Trail Historical Association to help keep our museum open to the public.

The historic Butterfield Trail originally passed near Russell Springs, and the ride is our attempt to relive a little bit of the "Old West". Bring your saddle horse, team, mule, wagon, or any other hay powered conveyence. The ride is free for all, but donations are welcome, and a free cap is provided for every $10 donation.

Activities include:
  • Ride starts at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 2nd in Russell Springs, KS
  • Ride ends ?
  • Food and Ice available
  • 9:00 P.M. Saturday night, dance to the sounds of Scott Cameron and the Western Dream
  • Outdoor Church service, Sunday, 8:00 A.M.
  • Ride starts Sunday morning, 9:00 A.M.
  • Sunday, 1:00 P.M., the Trail Riders Rodeo
  • Museum open both days
A stop on the trail There is plenty of camping space in Russell Springs, "The Cow-Chip Capital of Kansas", (some areas have electrical hookups for campers) so plan to come and spend the weekend and visit our museum.

There's something here for everyone, both young and not so young, so please plan to attend. I will be posting more information as it becomes available. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at rfdhomer@windyplains.com.
